Hello Kuala Lumpur!

KL a metropolis with a mix  of modern and different cultural/traditional influence.

Last year we went to the largest city in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.  A place you can find some historic temples/mosques, modern shopping malls/restaurant, see the tallest buildings of Southeast Asia. Beautiful monuments and a numerous parks where you can relax and enjoy the beauty of the nature. What we liked the most was the cultural diversity, a city where you will meet Malays, Chinese, Indians, Arabian and Indonesian locals.

We stayed in the Sama Sama Hotel, formerly known as Pan Pacific Kuala Lumpur International Airport. This hotel is conveniently connected to the airport, just a short 5 min walk. There was also a buggy service, which we obviously used so we didn’t had to walk with our heavy heavy bags haha! We have never ride in a buggy car before  and our driver thought he was driving a Ferrari instead of a buggy car, he drove fast…like really FAST LoL. But we liked it!! We hired a car with a private driver which was also our guide. He showed us some of the must-see attractions in KL. In the evening we explored KL again with a friend of us who lives over there. He invited us to have dinner at his brothers café/restaurant. After dinner we went to see the Petronas tower, where we made some beautiful pictures (see below).

We tried to make a list below but ofcourse there are more sightseeing to do which you can see along the way in KL.

  • Petronas Twin Towers

A visit to KL isn’t complete unless you’ve been here! It was awesome to see the Twin Towers both in daylight and in the evenings ( when they light them up). Unfortunately we didn’t go up the towers, we just checked them out and took a few photos, really impressive!

  • Instana Negara

The Official residence of his Majesty The King of Malaysia. You can see the palace from outside and see the beautifully landscaped garden. We also took some pictures with the members of the cavalry in their full dress uniform who guarded the main entrance.

  • Independence square Kuala Lumpur ( Merdeka Square )

There are lots of impressive historical buildings around this area, where you can take beautiful pictures.

  • National History Museum

You can say it’s not really a history museum. It’s more towards cultural/information museum there. You may get to know the main races, malay, Indian and Chinese life style there. But worth a visit though.

  • National Mosque (Masjid Negara)

The mosque itself is gorgeous, beautiful architecture & surroundings with lots of water features  both in the grounds around the mosque, and also within. There is a stand with various leaflets about Islam & if you have any questions there will be maybe a Imam close by to answer your questions. It’s free to enter and you can leave a donation if you like in the boxes at the top of the stairs.

      While we did our internship in the UK we visited Bradford a couple of times.

    Thanks for liking my post on Luang Prabang.
    Your post on KL is good and usefulness to me. I’ll be traveling there for a month after I move through Thailand.
    I was curious if there was any food in particular that was your favorite?

    • Thank you Johnny, glad you like the post! Nice, Malaysia is a beautiful country to visit. We don’t really have a favorite food/dish because you have a lot of various cuisine like Indian, chinese and malaysian/indonesian cuisines to choose from. But mie goreng, indian curry will always do hihi. Ohw are you travelling trough Asia..so awesome! Which countries is still on your travel list? Don’t forget to visit Indonesia/Bali 😀

      • Haha unfortunately Indonesia will be next year. I still have the Thai islands, both sides of Malaysia and Singapore! Super stoked!

  20. Thanks for checking out my latest post! I was actually just in KL about a week ago and thought this was a great write up for it. I totally know what you mean about the guy driving like a Ferrari. I said the exact same thing about the bus drivers all over Malaysia. We didn’t get a chance to see all the things you mentioned, but we did go to the Batu Caves which was probably the highlight of KL for me. I’m also curious which theme you’re using, I really like it! Especially the photo gallery feature. Cya!

    • Hi Mike! KL is a beautiful city, glad you like the post. Yes ..well what can we say about the bus/taxi drivers in south Asia, they are all Formule-1 drivers haha. NICE, Batu Caves with the world’s tallest statue of Murugan. Too bad we didn’t had the chance to visit it. We heard a lot of Batu Caves. Hopefully next time 🙂 We use the oxygen theme. We like this theme too because of the changing header. When you have questions or need help, just ask 😉 Great post you have!

  25. Malaysia is a country that I don’t know all that much about, so it was neat to see your blog post here.
    The one landmark I have seen pictures of before is the Petronas Twin Towers. It must be so incredible to be there and look up at its massive height.

Yes the Petronas Twin Towers is the most iconic building of Kuala Lumpur. Its really worth a visit if you go to this city. You can actually go all the way up the tower and enjoy the view, too bad we didn’t do that. But we are sure it must be breath taking! Thank you for visiting our blog 😀

  27. Just wanted to say thanks for liking my post, and I really enjoyed reading about a couple of the places you’ve visited as well. So far I’ve mainly traveled within the U.S. myself, but I’m anticipating exploring further abroad soon. Malaysia and and a few other countries in southeast Asia are definitely high on the list of places I’d like to go.
