Blue layer cake

Cake for our nephew

A blue layer cake with cream.

Its been 9 days ago that we welcomed a new family member, our nephew! For the first time we are aunties to a handsome little boy. We are so HAPPY! To celebrate we made a blue 5-layer cake and between the layers vanilla cream.

We’ve never made a cake like this before, it took us almost a whole day to bake and decorate. So after we finished we were a little bit nervous. How will it look like if we cut the cake?  We didn’t expected it, but lucky it turned out beautifully and yummie! Just the colors went a little bit greenish /turquoise :s, but its okay cause we love pastel colors haha. Our family loved it too…pheww. It was such a fun baking this layer cake, we really enjoyed it.

Below you can see some pictures.

    • Hi! Thank you. Our family and friends said it tasted good, so hopefully they don’t lie haha. We didn’t know its a new culinary rage in France. A cake like this is fun to make, cause you can put your creativity in it 🙂 Using different colors. Thanks for visiting our blog 🙂

  1. Mazel tov on the birth of your nephew (he is SO cute). Beautiful cake for a little boy, Anneke and Ineke! I made my daughter a tie-died cake this year with many colors for her birthday. It’s fun to do things like this for kids; well-done! Best – Shanna

    • Thank you Sally! We just covered the whole cake generously with whipped cream, thinning it out with a spatula. Make sure to make it even ( also the edges) So when you put the fondant/icing on the cake it will be smooth.

  2. Those sponges mixes could easily be mistaken for pots of paint 🙂 I remember my brother winning a school cake baking competition for making a blue cake. Your cake looks impressive in layers.

    • It really does look like post of paint isn’t especially with the bubbles in it hihi…because of the stirring. We are sure your brothers blue cake looked great, winning the competition! Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Superpretty ❤ Jammer dat cakebeslag altijd wat geel is; misschien is het mogelijk een cake te maken zonder het eigeel zodat het niet gekleurd is?

    • Hi Mitaupadhyay! Thank you for visiting our blog too! You have a lovely blog, lots of delicious and healthy recipes. We will definitely do that hihi!
