Tempe(h) and Tahu Bacem a javanese traditional dish, boiled with spices and palm sugar.
Indonesian people love this dish because it taste sooo good, lots of flavor, sweet and nutty. Tempe is a traditional soy product from Indonesia and has this firm and meaty texture. Vegetarian can use this tempe as a substitute for meat. It contains a lot of vitamins, fiber and like Tofu high protein. Tempe and Tofu can be fix in any dishes. You can (stir-) fried, soups (Lodeh) , stew, or even make salads. Sundanese people love to eat this with white rice, sambal (hot sauce) and vegetables (lalap).

This is a beautiful recipe! I would love to try it soon. A few of the ingredients may be hard to find, but I shall keep my eyes peeled. I imagine that the soy protein is so flavorful and caramelized with the two-step cooking preparation. Delicious, I&A! 🙂 Best, Shanna
Thank you Shanna! Maybe you can try some Asian stores and hopefully they will have these ingredients. We are glad you like this recipe! Have a nice evening 🙂 I&A
Oh, yes… the Asian stores in New Mexico are very limited, but I will certainly take on your challenge. One never knows what they will find! Still, we are here temporarily. My best to you both. Warm regards, Shanna PS Again, lovely recipe!
